Vroman's is thrilled to host an opening reception for an Art on the Stairwell gallery show of paintings by local artists Bill and Elisabeth Johns.
Bill and Elisabeth Johns have used their wide travels as a basis for their works, which include street scenes and landscapes from Europe and America. Both have had lifelong interests in art but only after retirement has it become a real passion.
They have trained locally with Diana Collins Hecht, whom they credit for developing their skills and encouraging them. They have also taken workshops with such well known and respected artists as David Leffel, Sherrie McGraw, Kim English, Ken Auster, Haywan Liu and Albert Handel.
Bill and Elisabeth have many friends in the communities of San Marino and Pasadena. Elisabeth was born in Belgium and emigrated to the United States in 1964, hence the paintings inspired by the “old country,” Bruges, in particular. Bill is known to many as the previous owner of Port O'Call Pasadena. He was also past President of the Pasadena Rotary Club and San Marino City Club.
