The Art of Joe Carrion

Joe Carrion is a mixed media artist from South Pasadena. After graduating from Humboldt State University with a Bachelors degree in Fine Arts he remained in Northern California working at the Eureka Art Center to support himself and his creativity. He continued to have several one-man shows as well as group shows in the area. Joe moved back to Los Angeles in 1993 and joined with several artists who formed a cooperative art gallery, called Hello Artichoke. Helping to form an art coop was an enriching and enlightening  art experience for him, helping him to understand the business side of art.
After leaving Hello Artichoke, Joe exhibited in local galleries as well as other venues and group exhibits. Joe has recently shown work at the Cactus Gallery in Eagle Rock, and is a member of the Arroyo Arts Collective where he has participated in several of their shows. Joe currently works, teaches, and exhibits at the store Zinnia and The Funky Junque Gallery in South Pasadena.


Joe's art has changed and evolved over the years, incorporating mixed media and collage into his original training working primarily in oils. This evolution and progress on the canvas has shaped Joe into the type of artists he studied in school, mixing fine art with craft techniques.
Please come and meet Joe at his opening reception on Saturday, June 6th, from 2pm-4pm. Live music performed by c-horse and refreshments will be provided!
