Mi Amor (Paperback)

MI AMOR, is a fantastic read by Vibiana Aparicio-Chamberlin. Her stories and poetry feed your heart, mind, and soul with the Indigenous, Mexican, and Chicano realities of life for a young girl growing up in East Los Angeles in the late 40’s. The book spans East LA of the past to today’s Pasadena, California, where the author’s ninety-eight year old mother, Chabela, fantasizes that her deceased husband of 35 years comes to her every night for a home made dinner. The struggle of this Mexican American family with its births, deaths, hunger, and neighborhood gangs is centered around the author’s parents, Chabela and Caro who perplex her with their passionate love-jealous relationship. I couldn’t put it down. - Rosalio Urias Muñoz, Historian, UCLA
