Anne Rosenbaum, is a brilliant English wife of a powerful Hollywood studio executive who has a Ph.D. in literature, and lives quietly tending to her gardens and reading. When asked by her husband's friends to create a reading list, Anne suddenly finds herself leading a book club for Hollywood's elite. When her husband is struck by a crisis of conscience, gravitating toward his strict Orthodox Jewish upbringing, he believes he must divorce Anne, a non-Jew. Now cut off from him, Anne uses her only channel of communication left, the contents of her book clubs.
