Vlad is back to start his second year of high school and things seem to be looking up.  He is with the girl of his dreams and his Uncle Otis is around to show him the vampire ropes but nothing good ever seems to last for poor Vladimir Tod.  His uncle is taking off, with no word as to when he'll return.  Henry, his best friend, is acting very strange; picking fights, keeping secrets, and picking the "cool" crowd over his best friend.  Will he be at a higher risk without his best friend and drudge?  Especially now that there is another vampire out to get him... DEAD OR ALIVE.
