In 1963, “Lisa Fever” swept the United States for 88 days as the Mona
Lisa was displayed in Washington, D.C. and New York. The exhibition was
no tiny feat, and took a great deal of convincing by First Lady
Jacqueline Kennedy, the mastermind of the operation who believed the
arts could unify and enhance our nation. Mona Lisa in Camelot is the
account of the resistance she met and overcame, and the monumental move
of the beloved painting.
