Father Boyle was ordained as a Jesuit Priest in 1982, moved to Boyle Heights in 1986 to become the pastor of Dolores Mission, and in 1988, he founded what would eventually become Homeboy Industries. Homeboy Industries provides at risk youth and former gang members with job experience, positive communities and a second chance. Father Boyle draws on his 20+ years of stories and experiences in Tattoos on the Heart, telling the stories of LA's gangs with unmatched love and compassion.
