Instructor: Kit Kan One of my first loves was nature. I could remember admiring the many varieties of orchids when I was as young as 7. I grew up taking Ikebana and lei maiking classes since I had grown up in the beautiful state of Hawaii, where tropical flowers were abundant.
It was in my early years at college as an Art major that I started looking for new ways of creative expression. So I started taking floral arrangement classes under the guidance of noted floral designer Sandy Lesnewsky for two years. Shortly after, I had interned for Flower Divas, a studio based in the Bay Area. During that time, I worked solely on a few weddings, Christmas parties, and charity functions as a freelance designer.
After my move to Los Angeles, I worked for Eric buterbaugh, the floral studio located at the Four Seasons Hotel in Beverly Hills. It was there that i was exposed to the high art of floral arrangement and helped me to hone my skills. Although I have stopped working for the floral industry due to my desire to try more things, I still commit to various weddings and events.
