In this pair of moving, gracefully poignant novellas, sisters Pokras and Yariv explore the world of the elderly with deft humor and heart-wrenching detail. In Feeding Mrs. Moskowitz, the elderly, ghost-ridden widow Golde Moskowitz and 30-year-old artist and workaholic Natalie Holtzman literally run into each other one day, and end up changing each other’s lives. Unfolding in a series of short stories, The Caregiver chronicles the routines and absurdities of the residents of Sunset Hills, a fictional assisted-living facility in Hollywood, from the point of view of caregiver Ofelia Hernandez. Taken together, these stories give a picture of aging that celebrates and illuminates, drawn from the sisters’ experience of caring for their own aging parents.
