This is one of my favorite books of all time. Written in its own unique style and slang, it is a dark funny story that questions the limits of punishment and rehabilitation, good and evil, and violence and violent cures. Get a copy with the original ending (chapter 21).

All of his life, Gregory Orfalea has felt an obsession for Los Angeles and all that involves. Although he has spent half of his life elsewhere that connection has remained strong and led him to write a series of memoirs originally published in the Los Angeles Times Magazine. Angeleno Days is a collection of some those essays in which, as an Arab American, he explores his community and its political and social concerns.
