This second installment of Jim Krusoe's trilogy about resurrection begins when Theodore receives a note from his dead mother saying, “I need to see you.” Like any reasonable person, Theodore ignores the note until he can no longer with the arrival of another note and takes off for Cleveland. In Krusoe’s radiantly imagined Cleveland, Theodore travels through the worlds of Uleene, a member of the all-girl biker club Satan’s Samaritans; art; rodent extermination; and sport fishing, all the while realizing that the line between life and death is remarkably fluid.
