She begins to make nasty pictures of her once beloved teacher, and sneaks them into his bookbag. But what happens when Mr. Slinger gives her her stuff back with a note and some snacks? Ellyn Maybe, Rick Lupert and Bob Foster--three exciting Los Angeles poets--will be featured at this event, curated by Alex M. Frankel. Ellyn Maybe is the author of The Cowardice of Amnesia (2.13.61) and Walking Barefoot in the Glassblowers Museum, among other books. She has been a major force in L.A. poetry for many years. Rick Rupert hosts weekly readings at the Cobalt Cafe in Canoga Park and has an important poetry website, www.poetrysuperhighway.com. His many books include I am My Own Orange County; he is reputed to be the funniest poet around. Bob Foster facilitates a poetry workshop at Beyond Baroque and performs and publishes widely.
This event includes an open mic set. Come at 4:30 to sign-up.
