In the valleys and mountains of the Ozarks, a young boy dreams of raising and training two ‘coon hounds’. This is a book apparently read by nine year olds, but it should not be confined to that audience. I found this book terrific in my mid-twenties, and again in my mid-thirties. The integrity and loyalty shown by the main characters is moving, and growing up in and around nature sounds ideal.
