Join Vroman’s Bookstore on Facebook for our first ever online book club!
Starting Thursday, February 5, we’ll be discussing Cory Doctorow’s Little Brother.
Little Brother tells the story of high school student Marcus Yallow, a teenage hacker who is mistakenly detained by the Department of Homeland Security following a massive terrorist attack in San Francisco. After having his freedom and his dignity stripped from him, Marcus forms the Xnet, a covert intraweb assembled from old Xboxes. Along with a band of tech-savvy young people, Marcus decides to fight back.
Little Brother is an empowering examination of personal liberty and how technology can be used to protect our freedoms or to take them away.
Anybody is welcome to join the discussion (Ages 14 and up). All you need is a Facebook account. To join the discussion, simply visit the Vroman’s Facebook page and check out our discussion board. We’ll be getting started on February 5, so get reading!
