An extremely well produced catalogue which presents 185 pieces from the British Museum's magnificent collection of English and Irish Delftware. They include a wide array of domestic crockery, including bowls, plates, jugs, tankards, and vases, and are decorated with an interesting range of historical and orientalizing scenes. Each piece is photographed in full colour with with accompanying descriptions and explanations of the decoration, whilst an introduction surveys the delfware industry.
About the Author
Aileen Dawson is the curator responsible for the British Museum's collection of post-Renaissance European ceramics and glass. Her publications include The Art of Worcester Porcelain; French Porcelain: A Catalogue of the British Museum Collection and Masterpieces of Wedgwood.
