The town was dying, a casualty of the Southern Pacific's decision to relocate its operations to the south closer to the border. It seemed that the tiny habitat of Prickly Pear, Arizona was doomed until, that is, the Gomez family arrived with their four young daughters and two alcoholic uncles who settle into a nearby migrant camp known as Santa Puto from which they make their way into town and ingratiate themselves among the locals.Set against the backdrop of ill-conceived immigration policies, the town must rely on the family of quirky illegals to revive its fortunes before the INS closes the town forever.
