WHY HOST CARTER?
Carter was a school librarian for a decade, so she have been on the other side of the desk planning author visits. Her biggest goal is shared with yours: to celebrate books and encourage readers.
ABOUT THE BOOK: EVERYTHING YOU NEED FOR A TREEHOUSE
"One magical, impossible treehouse after another." --The Wall Street Journal
Treehouses are for wonder.
Treehouses are for snacks.
Treehouses are for whispers and snickers and echoes.
Treehouses are for everyone.
This magical work of art from acclaimed picture book creators Carter Higgins and Emily Hughes celebrates the universal wonder of treehouses and all the adventure that live among branches.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Carter Higgins is the author of a A Rambler Steals Home (HMH) and three picture books from Chronicle Books: This is Not a Valentine (Lucy Ruth Cummins), Everything You Need For a Treehouse (Emily Hughes), and the forthcoming Bikes for Sale (Zachariah Ohora). She is an Emmy-winning visual effects and motion graphics artist and spent a decade as an elementary school librarian. She writes about picture books and graphic design at her blog, Design of the Picture Book. You can find her on Twitter and Instagram @carterhiggins.
LENGTH & TOPIC OF PRESENTATION
Carter's presentations change based on new book releases, but are always based around the theme of how reading and how writing as a kid prepared her to be an author as a grownup. She loves to talk about how books are made, where ideas come from, how many drafts it took, and how being a reader is the most important thing you can be.
SCHOOL TYPE & GRADES
Carter is available to talk to students in grades K-8.
DESIRED NUMBER OF STUDENTS
Carter prefers to share a Google Slides link ahead of time and project from whatever system your school has. She will need a microphone for large audiences.
